About

Tom Fazio opened the Canyon Course at Loews Ventana Canyon in 1987, three years after the Mountain. Routed around the rock formation known as Whaleback Rock, the Canyon plays through a tighter, more enclosed corridor than the Mountain, with the canyon walls forming much of the visual identity. The course is currently ranked 43rd among Arizona's best for 2025-26 by Golf Digest. The two-course Loews Ventana Canyon resort has been recognized by USA Today multiple years (2014-2019) as one of Tucson's top luxury, romantic, and family-friendly hotels. Standard Tucson premium-resort pricing applies — generally one tier below the Phoenix metro's most expensive options. Most groups play both Loews courses on a Tucson trip; the Canyon is typically the second round after the Mountain.
