Tom Fazio opened the Canyon Course at Loews Ventana Canyon in 1987, three years after the Mountain. Routed around the rock formation known as Whaleback Rock, the Canyon plays through a tighter, more enclosed corridor than the Mountain, with the canyon walls forming much of the visual identity.
