Pete Dye and his son P.B. Dye opened Kearney Hill Golf Links in 1989 as a Scottish links-inspired municipal course on the north side of Lexington โ the same Pete Dye design that anchors the Lexington-area Bourbon Trail listing. For Louisville and Southern Indiana groups, Kearney Hill is a 75-mile drive south but worth the trip: rare to find a Pete Dye public muni at $ pricing anywhere in America. The 7,018-yard par-72 links-style routing has hosted the Senior PGA Tour from 1990-1997 and U.S. Amateur Public Links twice (1997, 2007). Currently #4 Best Public Course in Kentucky by Golfweek (2025) and #13 Best Course in Kentucky by Top100golfcourses.com (2024). For a Louisville-area two-state trip, this stop pairs naturally with Covered Bridge or Sultan's Run on the Indiana side and the Lexington-area Bourbon Trail destinations.
