About

Mark McCumber — the four-time PGA Tour winner turned architect — designed Windance Country Club in Gulfport in 1986 on rolling Pine Belt terrain seven miles inland from the Mississippi Sound. Island View Casino Resort purchased the 6,659-yard par-72 layout in 2007 and transformed it into one of the state's premier resort cards, adding a new lake, native areas, and a state-of-the-art irrigation system. Tight tree-lined fairways, level mid-size greens, moderate bunkering, and water hazards that come into play on most of the back nine are the course's signatures. Windance has hosted stops on the Ben Hogan, Nike, and Senior Series tours over its history, and Golf Digest and Southern Golf Journal have included it on lists of Mississippi's top five courses. Peak green fee runs around $55-80 depending on season — excellent value for championship-length tournament-tested golf. Fits a Gulf Coast golf trip as the inland-mountain counterpoint to the flat coastal designs at Grand Bear and Fallen Oak.
