Robert Trent Jones Jr. opened the original North Course at Silverado Resort in 1966, with the routing later refined by his father RTJ Sr. and PGA Tour Hall of Famer Johnny Miller. Miller, who used to own a home on the course, handled a full 2011 redesign, and co-owned the resort from 2010 to 2022. The course features water crossings, elevation changes, and routing through oak, pine, and redwood trees. The North Course is the home of the PGA Tour's Procore Championship (formerly Safeway Open / Fortinet Championship), which has been played at Silverado every year since 2014. The 1,200-acre Napa Valley property has been hosting professional tournaments off and on since the 1960s, Johnny Miller himself won the Kaiser International Open Invitational here in 1974 and 1975.
