Phil Ritson, Isao Aoki, and Dave Harman followed 1997's Panther Lake with 1999's Crooked Cat at Orange County National, this time pivoting the architectural vocabulary toward a links-style feel. An Orange County National spokesman in 1999 summarized the intent: 'more open fairways, some good undulation to it, some grass bunkers.' The result is 7,493 yards par-72 of Florida links-style golf, no tree canopy on most holes, firm-and-fast turf designed to let the ball run, grass bunkering instead of the traditional sand traps on several key landing zones. The course has hosted LIV Golf Orlando events in recent years, raising its national profile considerably. Peak green fee $85-155.
