Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw opened Ozarks National at Big Cedar Lodge in 2019 — an elevated, ridgeline-routed layout with ledges and fingers of land that fall off into wooded ravines, classic Coore/Crenshaw work that maximizes a sculptural site. Holes run along ridgetops and across forested terrain with elevation that can mask approach distance. Golf Digest named Ozarks National Best New Public Course in America at its opening. It's been on America's 100 Greatest Public Courses since 2021. Golf Digest's Second 100 Greatest placed it at #155 (2021-22). Golfweek rated it Best Course You Can Play in Missouri (2020), with sister course Buffalo Ridge at #2 — Big Cedar Lodge's Missouri public dominance is near-total.
