One of Pete Dye's earliest design projects, he built the back nine in 1963, before he was famous, on top of Roy Robertson's 1920 original front nine. Tippecanoe sits on the banks of Lake Shafer in Monticello, ninety minutes north of Indianapolis, with the lake forming the visual backdrop on several holes. The course plays 6,870 yards par 72 across mature corridors that show Dye's earliest experiments with the strategic angles and small undulating greens that would define his later resort work. Golf Advisor ranked Tippecanoe #23 among Indiana courses; it's the historical anchor on the Pete Dye Trail and the place where Dye's design career started. Semi-private with public daily-fee tee times.
