RiverTowne Country Club in Mount Pleasant is Charleston's only Arnold Palmer Signature golf course, routed through scenic Lowcountry marshlands and majestic live oak stands along the Wando River and Horlbeck Creek. Thirteen of the eighteen holes play directly alongside the water, and the tidal saltmarsh views are about as good as Charleston-area golf gets. Palmer's 2002 design plays between 5,100 and 7,200 yards across five tee sets, with bunkering that rewards the shot-maker over the bomber. A Golf Digest 4.5-star rating puts it in the conversation with Kiawah and Sea Island as a top-shelf Lowcountry visitor round, despite the semi-private designation.
