About Rum Pointe Seaside Golf Links

Rum Pointe Seaside Golf Links in Berlin is the Ocean City area's signature Scottish-links design, a Pete & P.B. Dye father-son collaboration that opened in spring 1997 on the Sinepuxent Bay overlooking Assateague National Seashore. The routing is one of a very small handful of true links-style layouts on the Maryland coast, and the only course in the Ocean City region with bent-grass on both fairways and greens, a turfgrass commitment that signals genuinely premium conditioning. No less than 17 of the 18 holes have a bay view, with several holes featuring direct bay frontage where golfers can start their ball over the water to shorten the hole. The Dye-family bunkering, native-grass framing, and strategic use of the bay winds give Rum Pointe a playing experience unlike anything else between Rehoboth and Virginia Beach. The site's historical layering is unusual: remains of seven Native American cultures were found on the property, and legend has it that Captains Kidd and Blackbeard sought shelter behind Assateague's barrier islands from 1696-1717. The Ruark family, who developed Rum Pointe, transferred 100 acres to the Park Service and placed most of the remaining farm into conservation easement, meaning the course is permanently protected from surrounding development. For the Ocean City / Delmarva Peninsula trip visitor, Rum Pointe is the must-play Dye round, paired naturally with GlenRiddle's Man O' War and War Admiral courses for a three-round Ocean City Dye package.
