About Sea Scape Golf Links

Sea Scape Golf Links in Kitty Hawk is the Outer Banks' most-established public-access course, an Art Wall design that opened in 1968 and has been a vacation-golf staple on the northern Outer Banks for nearly six decades. Wall, himself a 1959 Masters champion, laid out a par-70 course at 6,200 yards from the back tees across windswept coastal dunes and maritime forest, with several holes offering Atlantic Ocean views from the elevated tee boxes. The course description as 'links' is earned rather than marketing. Coastal forests frame some holes while windswept dunes and fescue rough define others, giving Sea Scape a hybrid feel of true links exposure broken up by coastal-wooded shelter, a combination rare among American ocean-adjacent courses. The 70.4 rating and 127 slope hint at honest difficulty despite the modest 6,200 yards. The par-5 1st (579 yards) is the #1 handicap hole, kicking off the round immediately with three-shot-hole decision-making; the par-4 18th closes with a tree-lined sharp-dogleg-left 342-yarder. For the Outer Banks vacation visitor, Sea Scape has history and character the newer 1990s-2000s OBX courses can't match, the original Outer Banks public round.
