About The Currituck Club

The Currituck Club is Rees Jones's 1996 design in Corolla, North Carolina, tucked into a gated community between the Atlantic beaches and the Currituck Sound, on the northernmost stretch of the Outer Banks. Jones routed the course through maritime forest and dune terrain, with fairways that generally sit below the crests of the dunes so the playing corridors feel protected from the coastal wind on the most exposed holes. At just under 6,900 yards par 72, it plays more demanding than the more exposed public courses elsewhere on the OBX. The 1st is a par-3 with oceanfront views, a rare opener anywhere, while the par-5 7th and 8th run alongside the Currituck Sound. The par-3 15th runs along the Sound on the inward nine, with breezes off the water that change hole-by-hole throughout the round. Jones built the greens with his signature pronounced slopes and tight collection areas, so missed approaches punish more than at a typical Outer Banks daily-fee. The Currituck Club is widely considered the most upscale daily-fee course on the Outer Banks. For an OBX trip, it's the premium round to anchor the week around, with Currituck's public-access status making it the rare private-community course most groups can actually book.
