Shadowmoss Plantation Golf Club in West Ashley is the Charleston-area course with the deepest South Carolina State Open pedigree, the only course in the Charleston area selected to host that annual state championship. Architect Russell F. Breedon laid out the 6,700-yard par-72 course in 1970 on an original Charleston plantation site, carving the routing through winding woods, fields, ponds, and streams.
