The Chain

Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw returned to Streamsong in 2024 for their second act after the acclaimed Red Course, building The Chain, a 19-hole short course that deliberately dismantles golf convention. There are no tee markers: players hit from within a suggested teeing area marked by actual dragline chains left behind when the land was mined for phosphate. There's no par on the scorecard, because holes ranging from 57 to 261 yards genuinely can't be classified in traditional terms. The routing gives you a six-hole loop plus a 12-hole loop plus 'The Bucket,' a 2.5-acre putting green big enough to host its own events. The 11th features a 150-yard carry to a punchbowl green; the 16th is a modern Biarritz with a deep bisecting swale; the 12th funnels a tee ball across a big natural swale to a pitched green guarded by a single massive tree. Peak day-rate green fee ~$75-120 for guests; available as an add-on with championship-course rounds.
