The Golf Club at Wescott Plantation in Summerville is Charleston's only 27-hole public facility, a 2000 Dr. Michael Hurdzan design with three nines named Oak Forest, Burn Kill, and Black Robin, each drawn from the history of the plantation site. The tree-lined corridors, tall old-growth pines separating every hole, give the course excellent visual definition, and Hurdzan's preference for low-flowing earthworks, classic bunkering, and natural-vegetation framing plays through all three nines. The signature hole is #8 on Oak Forest, a beautiful par-3 with a lake running the full length of the left side up to the green and strategically placed bunkers defending the putting surface. Tees range from 115 to 200 yards, making the hole a different test from every tee set. Wescott is the rare Charleston course where you can play 27 holes in a day and see three different personalities, Oak Forest is the championship feel, Burn Kill has the Lowcountry water exposure, and Black Robin the shortest and tightest of the three. A strong third-round pairing with Stono Ferry or RiverTowne for a Charleston trip.
The Golf Club at Wescott Plantation's peak-season green fee is around $67 per round; off-peak rates drop to about $40. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full Charleston trip cost
