Jim Krause's 1991 Highlands Golf Course sits atop a hill overlooking Post Falls in the Idaho panhandle, a 6,369-yard par-72 public layout with sweeping views across the Spokane River valley toward the Selkirk range. The course received a major facelift in 2006 that redesigned 31 bunkers, built seven new tee boxes, and added one new fairway and green, modernizing Krause's original routing for the current era of firm-and-fast conditioning. Five water features are scattered across the routing with a well-known grass-tee driving range, one of the last still in operation in the region, stretching nearly 400 yards for pre-round practice. Peak green fee runs $45-65. Fits a Coeur d'Alene trip as the 'sleeper Post Falls card' that most visitors drive past on their way to the floating-green resort course, cheaper, less-crowded, and good value for groups who don't need the resort amenities.
The Highlands Golf Course's peak-season green fee is around $65 per round. Off-peak rates vary by season. Call the pro shop for current shoulder pricing. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full Coeur d'Alene trip cost
