Joel Goldstrand's 1991 routing at the Ruttger family's 1898-founded Bay Lake resort in Deerwood — 100 acres of rugged Northwoods terrain with two natural lakes putting water in play on ten holes. The 9-hole walking-only Alec's Nine (par-3, James Dalgleish 1921) sits next door. Ruttger's is 30 minutes east of the Madden's/Cragun's cluster — pair with a Crosby or Cuyuna lakes-region day if you want the eastern half of the destination.
