The Links at Overton Park (operated as 'Overton Park 9') is the oldest continuously operating municipal golf course in the United States, established in 1906 and still in play on the same Overton Park site at 2080 Poplar Avenue in midtown Memphis. That national first alone makes Overton Park a destination-golf waypoint for any American golf-architecture-history tour; century-plus continuous municipal operation is exceedingly rare, and Overton Park's preservation through the 20th century represents a sustained commitment by Memphis Parks to keep a piece of the American municipal-golf origin story alive. The course reopened in 2022 following a full renovation, which brought its conditioning, routing updates, and practice amenities back to modern municipal standards while preserving the historic character. The 9-hole par-34 layout plays 2,250 yards, short enough for walking rounds, pace-of-play municipal golf, and the kind of after-work nine that working golfers use to get their round in. The Abe Goodman Golf Clubhouse (Tudor-style brick, built 1926) adds architectural period-piece charm to the property. For the Memphis trip visitor, Overton Park 9 is the historic-first pilgrimage round, a $15 walking nine at the oldest American municipal course, paired naturally with the new TPC Southwind public-access windows (when available) and Mirimichi (Millington) for a three-round Memphis package.
The Links at Overton Park's peak-season green fee is around $24 per round. Off-peak rates vary by season. Call the pro shop for current shoulder pricing. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full Memphis trip cost
