The Yards

The Yards, located inside the TPC Sawgrass Players Club near the Marriott property in Ponte Vedra, is one of the more innovative alternative-format golf experiences in Florida. Originally an Arnold Palmer-designed short course, the facility was completely reimagined by David Miller and Mike Miles and reopened in October 2020 as North Florida's first and only 12-hole course, combining a redesigned classic "Front Yard" nine with dramatic par-threes on a new "Backyard" three-hole "Beer Loop" addition. Configurations support 9, 6, 3, or 12 holes, depending on how long of a round the player wants. The renovation kept Palmer's opening blessing but modernized green complexes and shot values throughout. Reviewers consistently cite the conditions as among the best in the Jacksonville-Ponte Vedra area, with some greens now described as "too severe" for average players, Miller and Miles leaned hard into short-game drama. It's the logical side-round companion for any Sawgrass trip, or a 2-hour standalone option when an 18-hole commitment isn't on the itinerary.
