Pete and Alice Dye opened the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass in 1980 as the first golf course built explicitly with on-site fan experience in mind, terraced spectator mounds, sight lines from corner to corner, and the design philosophy that 'every spectator should see at least three holes from any vantage.' Alice suggested the island-green concept on the par-3 17th; Pete went ahead with it. That hole alone is now the most recognizable single hole in American golf. Golf Digest currently ranks the Stadium #41 on the 100 Greatest (peak of #25 in 1985-86) and #8 on America's 100 Greatest Public for 2025-26. The Players Championship, the PGA Tour's flagship event with the largest non-major purse, has called the Stadium home every year since 1982. Premium peak pricing puts it in the $$$$ luxury tier; March pricing during Players week is the highest of the year, with $700+ rates not unusual.
TPC Sawgrass - The Stadium Course's peak-season green fee is around $600 per round. Off-peak rates vary by season. Call the pro shop for current shoulder pricing. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full Ponte Vedra trip cost
