Robert Trent Jones Sr. called the Masterpiece at Treetops (1987) his crowning glory. It's routed at the headwaters of the Pigeon River through natural valleys, ravines, and broad plains. The signature 6th hole features a 120-foot vertical drop and a panoramic view of the Pigeon River Valley. Golf Digest named the Masterpiece the #2 new resort course in the United States at its opening. Its 147 slope makes it one of the toughest tests in Michigan. More recent recognition includes a Golf Digest Top 10 Favorite Fall Foliage Courses in the US honor. The broader Treetops Resort holds seven GOLF Magazine Silver Medal Awards.
