Treetops Resort - Smith Signature

Rick Smith designed the Signature Course at Treetops in 1993, the first of three Smith-designed layouts at the resort. Smith drew from his knowledge of Scottish and Irish links in designing the course, routing it across rolling northern Michigan terrain with exposed fairways, native grasses, and firm green sites. Golf Magazine's Best of the Midwest placed Smith Signature #2 on The Midwest: 25 More You Can Play. Golf Digest named it America's Top 100 Modern Courses #83 (2000). More recently the course has been ranked #17 Best Golf Courses in Michigan (2022-23) and appears on Best Resort Courses in the Country. Golftime Magazine's Best of the Midwest named it Best Course in Michigan.
