The Lido at Sand Valley opened May 2023, a down-to-the-inch recreation of C.B. Macdonald's legendary 1914-17 Long Island course, which the U.S. government destroyed during WWII to build a naval base. The project became possible when Peter Flory, an architecture enthusiast, built a detailed computer simulation of the course from old photos and documents. Michael and Chris Keiser, the Sand Valley proprietors, paired Flory's model with digital mapping specialist Brian Zager's GPS topographical blueprint, and Tom Doak with Brian Schneider rebuilt the original holes, Plateau, Alps, Cape, Long, the Dog's Leg sixth, the Home 18th, with only minor modern adjustments for drainage and length. In its first official year of play, The Lido debuted at #68 on GOLF's Top 100 Courses in the World. It's the most ambitious restoration project in modern golf, you're playing a course that went extinct 80 years ago, recreated exactly as Macdonald designed it.
Sedge Valley's peak-season green fee is around $375 per round. Off-peak rates vary by season. Call the pro shop for current shoulder pricing. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full Wisconsin Triangle Trail trip cost
