About Arrowhead Pointe at Richard B. Russell State Park

Arrowhead Pointe is a Bob Walker-designed 18-hole public course that opened in 2001 on a peninsula jutting into Lake Richard B. Russell in Elberton, northeast Georgia, part of the Richard B. Russell State Park on the Savannah River. The lakefront routing touches water on most holes, and the setting alone puts it among the most scenic courses on Georgia's State Parks Trail. Walker built the course to take advantage of the peninsula terrain: several holes play directly along the lake's edge, and approach shots into greens carry across coves and inlets rather than over interior ponds. The layout isn't brutally long, but wind off Lake Russell changes the course's playing character hole-to-hole, and the exposed lakeside holes play a club different than the protected interior stretches. At state-park pricing (under $50), Arrowhead Pointe is one of the strongest value plays in Georgia golf. Recognition: Golfweek named it #7 Best Municipal Course in the nation. Golf Digest named it #2 Best New Affordable Public Course in America (2005). Golf Advisor ranked it #10 on Top 25 Courses Under $50 (2017). GolfPass Golfer's Choice put it at #16 of 207 Georgia courses. TravelGolf.com placed it on the state's Top 10 as the only public course on the list.
