About Wallace Adams Memorial Golf Course

Wallace Adams Memorial Golf Course is the championship 18 at Little Ocmulgee State Park & Lodge in McRae-Helena, about two hours southeast of Atlanta, one of the anchor stops on the Georgia State Parks Golf Trail. The 1,360-acre park sits on the Little Ocmulgee River and combines a full-service lodge, cabins, and one of the South's most-respected state-park courses. O. C. Jones is credited as the architect. The front nine is the newer and tighter half, demanding shotmaking and approach-shot precision through pine-lined corridors. The back nine is more open, classic south-Georgia parkland, with doglegs and smaller, more sloped Tif-Dwarf Bermuda greens that represent the scoring challenge on the otherwise-benign second half. The course is consistently recognized as one of the best public courses in the South, and state-park pricing keeps the green fees well below what the course's conditioning and character would command at a private club. A must-play stop for golf trip visitors doing the Georgia State Parks Golf Trail.
