About Augustine Golf Club

Augustine Golf Club in Stafford is one of Northern Virginia's most architecturally-interesting semi-private public-access tracks, a Rick Jacobson design that opened in 1995, named for George Washington's father Augustine (who once owned the land where the club now sits). Jacobson was a longtime Jack Nicklaus associate before launching his independent practice, and Augustine is one of his signature Mid-Atlantic works. The 6,817-yard par-71 routing was carved from the gentle rolling hills of Stafford County. The front nine winds through mature hardwood forests with tight, tree-lined fairways that reward accuracy over distance, while the back nine opens to rolling hills with elevation changes and wide views of the surrounding Virginia countryside. The signature hole is the par-3 13th, an island green surrounded by water that plays as one of the region's most-photographed one-shotters. Augustine underwent a complete renovation in 2011 when Raspberry Golf Management acquired the club. Greens, fairways, rough, bunkers, and tee boxes were all redone, which significantly increased playability and brought the course back to peak conditioning. For the DC metro / Northern Virginia / Fredericksburg trip visitor, Augustine is the architectural-pedigree round of the I-95 corridor south of DC, paired naturally with Meadows Farms (Meadowbrook) and Lake Presidential (Williamsburg area) for a two-to-three round Virginia package.
