Coronado Municipal Golf Course opened on December 19, 1957 as a 6,146-yard par-75 layout designed by Jack Daray Sr., a retired Chicago architect drawn to Coronado's climate. The land itself is a civic-infrastructure story: the Port of San Diego dredged San Diego Bay to increase the shipping channel, the fill produced ~120 new acres along Glorietta Boulevard, and the city combined that with 20 existing acres to build the course. The opening-day exhibition match was a who's-who: Paul Runyan (two-time major winner), 27-year-old Gene Littler (already a 9-time PGA Tour champ), Billy Casper (fresh out of the Navy, who shot 69 in that round), and local legend Joan Collett. Today the course is one of San Diego County's best values, bay views from the front nine, the Coronado Bridge as backdrop on the back, and peak green fees in the $40-60 range for out-of-town visitors (residents pay roughly half). Fits a San Diego trip as the 'walking-distance-from-the-Hotel-Del' budget round.
Coronado Municipal Golf Course's peak-season green fee is around $60 per round. Off-peak rates vary by season. Call the pro shop for current shoulder pricing. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full San Diego trip cost
