Dick Wilson opened the original North Course at La Costa in 1965, but the version that exists today is essentially a Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner build. The pair completed a $20+ million ground-up renovation in 2024, adding native areas, barranca corridors, and falloff areas around the greens, Hanse signatures meant to inject risk-reward into a layout that had drifted into resort-flat territory. The trigger for the renovation was the NCAA Division I Golf Championships, which La Costa is contracted to host in successive years from 2024 through 2026 (men's and women's). The aesthetic deliberately leans into classic Southern California course design, closer to Riviera or Bel-Air than the Tour-stop modernism the course had become known for during its PGA Tour years. Premium peak-season pricing puts it in the $$$ band with most other San Diego resort headliners.
Omni La Costa Resort: North Course's peak-season green fee is around $325 per round. Off-peak rates vary by season. Call the pro shop for current shoulder pricing. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full San Diego trip cost
