About Falconhead Golf Club

Chris Gray, Director of Design for PGA Tour Design Services, opened Falconhead Golf Club in 2003 as a 7,302-yard par-72 daily-fee public layout in the rolling terrain of Austin's western Hill Country. The course was selected 'Best Public Golf Course in Austin' by Avid Golfer Magazine and San Antonio Express News, and named one of the best new courses in Texas by the Dallas Morning News when it opened. The par-3 8th is the hole that photographs everywhere and wins the course recognition: widely considered one of the very best and most beautiful par-3s in Texas, with the green perched on a limestone ledge that cantilevers out over a creek canyon below. The rest of the routing delivers Hill Country staples, moderate-speed undulating Bermuda greens, wide driving corridors with water or waste features on the aggressive lines, and native-grass roughs framing every landing zone. Peak green fee runs $75-125. Fits an Austin trip as the 'public-access championship card' alongside a stop at Horseshoe Bay or University of Texas's Golf Club for a weekend itinerary.
