Tom Fazio opened the Raptor at Grayhawk in 1995, one of two 18-hole layouts at the Scottsdale resort and the more tournament-tested of the pair. The Raptor has hosted the NCAA Men's and Women's Division I Golf Championships (2021-23), the PGA Tour's Frys.com Open (2007-09), and the inaugural Williams World Challenge. Golf Digest ranks the Raptor #38 in Arizona (2025-26). Golfweek and Golf Magazine have both placed it among Arizona's best public courses for years. It's a Top 100 You Can Play (Golf Magazine) and a Top 100 Public (Golf Digest) perennial. The Raptor pairs well with Troon North or TPC Scottsdale on a Phoenix-area golf trip, four meaningful rounds in the desert without leaving the metro.
