Pete Dye completely rebuilt Heron Point in 2007 (the property was originally the Ocean course by George Cobb). Dye preserved the original routing but reshaped green complexes, bunkering, and waste areas to create a course that feels unmistakably Dye, sharp-edged, strategic, and punishing for anyone who plays without a plan. GOLF Magazine ranked Heron Point #11 on Best Public Courses (2012) and #11 on Best Courses Near You in hyper-competitive South Carolina (2014). All three Sea Pines Resort courses were named to Golfweek's Best 2022 list of top resort golf courses in the U.S. The Sea Pines Resort itself ranks #5 for General Excellence on Golf Magazine's Top 100 Resorts in North America (2021), Best Golf Resorts in the Carolinas by Golf Digest Editors' Choice, and holds Platinum status on GOLF Magazine's biennial Premier Resorts list.
Heron Point by Pete Dye's peak-season green fee is around $275 per round. Off-peak rates vary by season. Call the pro shop for current shoulder pricing. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full Hilton Head trip cost
