George Fazio (uncle of Tom Fazio) designed the Palmetto Dunes course bearing his name in 1974. It's Hilton Head Island's only par-70 public course, playing 74/145 from the back tees — the tightest and most strategic of the three Palmetto Dunes layouts. Just two par-5s; the front nine has open tree-lined fairways, the back nine tightens up. The George Fazio Course was among the youngest courses ever named to Golf Digest's America's 100 Best at the time.
