Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed Apple Rock at Horseshoe Bay Resort on Lake LBJ in the Texas Hill Country — granite outcroppings and canyon drops make it the most dramatic of the resort's three courses. The 16th hole plays over a gorge to a peninsula green, and the overall routing uses the Hill Country terrain to create elevation changes rare in Texas resort golf. An hour west of Austin.
