Lee named the course Indian Mound after the large oyster-shell middens deposited by aboriginal coastal tribes hundreds of years ago, the middens remain visible throughout the property. The course meanders through live oak and longleaf pine forests, with Lee's signature fairway bunkers in precarious locations throughout. The signature 11th is a downhill par-5 that finishes at the edge of salt marshland.
