Sea Island - Retreat Course

Davis Love III and his brother Mark redesigned the Retreat Course at Sea Island in 2001, completing a top-to-bottom renovation that lengthened the course by 300 yards and widened the fairways for a more open, lower-profile feel. Davis Love III — a Sea Island resident — was inducted into the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame the same year. The redesigned Retreat was named a Top Ten New Course by Elite Traveler magazine after its reopening. As one of three resort-only Sea Island courses, the Retreat is typically the most playable for mixed-handicap groups — wider corridors and less penal hazard placement than the Seaside or Plantation.
