Arnold Palmer redesigned Kings North at Myrtle Beach National in 1996 โ one of three layouts at the complex, all Palmer-designed. Kings North is built for memorability: the par-5 6th ("The Gambler") gives golfers a fairway split in two by a lake, with an aggressive line to cut the corner or a safer layup. It's one of the most discussed and photographed holes on the Grand Strand. The course was recognized among America's Best New Courses at its 1996 opening. Golf Digest placed it on America's 100 Greatest Public Courses in 2004 and awards 4.5 stars in Best Places to Play. Golf for Women included it on its Top 100 Courses in America from 2000 through 2004. In 2025, Brandon Johnson (a longtime Palmer design team member) led a full renovation that modernized the layout while preserving the signature drama. A Palmer trip staple โ play all three Myrtle Beach National courses (Kings North, West, South Creek) for the full Arnold experience.
