Mike Strantz routed True Blue Plantation in 1998 — his second solo design at Pawleys Island, four years after Caledonia next door. Where Caledonia leans Lowcountry, True Blue feels more inland — Sandhills-style waste bunkering, dramatic elevation changes, massive double fairways, and greens that demand commitment. Golf Digest includes True Blue on America's Greatest 100 Public Golf Courses. GOLF Magazine places it at #77 on Top 100 You Can Play. The South Carolina Golf Course Rating Panel lists it among "50 Best Courses" in the state. It's a 2026 Golfweek Top 100 Resort Course and has been recognized as one of GOLF Magazine's Top 10 Places to Play and Top 25 Courses in the South. In 2026 True Blue was also honored as one of the Top 100 Golf Shops in the world by the Association of Golf Merchandisers. Most golfers doing a dedicated Strantz weekend in Pawleys play both Caledonia and True Blue — they're sister courses, 1 mile apart.
