The Pinehills Jones Course is Rees Jones's 2001 design in Plymouth, Massachusetts, 45 minutes south of Boston, through a Cape Cod-adjacent landscape of pine barrens, cranberry bogs, and kettle ponds. Jones routed 7,175 yards par 72 with five sets of tees, and the course plays as a precision test where the defenses are in the approach shots rather than the tee corridors. While the sister Nicklaus Course at the same facility plays more forgiving, the Jones asks more of the tee game, steep dropoffs punish errant shots on several holes. Jones's trademark green complexes (slopes that reward the correct quadrant) are fully on display, with wide landing zones that let groups play the front tees comfortably and the back tees as a real championship test. The Jones Course has been ranked #1 Top Course in Massachusetts by Golf Advisor in 2023 (other recent years: #3 in 2024, #2 in 2021 and 2020). It's the top public round on the South Shore and the better pick of Pinehills' two courses for groups looking for a serious test.
