About The Club at New Seabury - Dunes Course

The Dunes Course at The Club at New Seabury is the shorter, strategic counterpart to the championship Ocean Course on Cape Cod. William F. Mitchell opened the 6,021-yard par-70 layout in 1964, creating a distinctly different experience than the Ocean, cheeky short par-4s that seduce careless golfers into surprisingly high scores, classic bunkering, expanded short-grass areas around the greens, and at times treacherous putting surfaces that put a premium on distance control. The Dunes has an architectural lineage that keeps on giving: Rees Jones and Greg Muirhead teamed up for a renovation in 1986, and Bruce Hepner led another refresh in 2019. Each generation of architects has added depth while preserving Mitchell's original shot-making character. The 70.0 rating and 125 slope make this the more playable half of the New Seabury experience, shorter, smarter, and fun in a way the longer Ocean Course doesn't quite deliver. For the Cape Cod trip visitor staying at New Seabury, the Dunes is the second round that shows a different side of Mitchell's range, particularly with the Hepner-era green complexes.
