About Old Hickory Golf Club

Old Hickory Golf Club in Woodbridge is one of Northern Virginia's most challenging public-access tests, a 7,190-yard par-72 championship layout designed by Tim Freeland (of Jacksonville, Florida) and opened in 2003. Freeland previously worked for the design firm of golf legend Gary Player and also worked on the design of Raspberry Falls Golf and Hunt Club, Old Hickory's sister course in the Raspberry Golf Management portfolio. The club's founding story is quintessentially Virginia: developer Henry A. Long established the facility in 1998 with the vision of creating a world-class championship course in Woodbridge, naming it after President Andrew Jackson (known as 'Old Hickory' for his toughness and determination during his 1829-1837 presidency). Freeland incorporated the natural Virginia terrain into his routing, rolling ridge lines, scenic water features, and mature-tree corridors characteristic of the Piedmont foothills 30 minutes south of DC. At 7,190 yards from the championship tees, Old Hickory plays as one of the longer and harder public-access tests in Virginia. For the DC metro / Northern Virginia / Raspberry Trail trip visitor, Old Hickory pairs naturally with Raspberry Falls (same designer, same ownership), Augustine Golf Club (Rick Jacobson), and The Links at Gettysburg (Lindsay Ervin) for a three-to-four-round DC-metro-Virginia package.
