Randy Russell's 1994 Roy Kizer Golf Course is Austin's unlikely reclaimed-infrastructure success story, 200 acres of former city water-treatment facility transformed into one of the most creative municipal layouts in Texas. Russell had 35 acres of lakes and 22 acres of wetlands to work with, and he leaned into them rather than around: the result is a flat Texas-links-style routing loaded with bunkers, prevailing-wind exposure, and resident migratory waterfowl. 6,819 yards par-71 across bermudagrass. The links feel is unusual for central Texas, no tree canopy to hide behind on mishit shots, and the wind off the 20-minute-walkable lake complex can add two clubs to any approach shot. Paired with Jimmy Clay to form a 36-hole GolfATX complex. Peak green fee runs $32-55, Austin muni pricing for one of the state's most strategically interesting city-owned courses. Fits an Austin trip as the 'wind school' card between inland tree-lined rounds at Falconhead and Great Hills.
Roy Kizer Golf Course's peak-season green fee is around $35 per round. Off-peak rates vary by season. Call the pro shop for current shoulder pricing. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full Austin trip cost
