Gary Player personally designed Steele Canyon Golf Club's 27-hole layout in 1991 across the rugged hills east of San Diego in Jamul, the first and still only Gary Player Signature course in San Diego County. The three nines each have their own character: Canyon (dramatic shot-making with big elevation changes), Ranch (winding fairways through a working ranch), and Vineyard (woodlands, streams, and working vineyards along the valley floor). Golf Digest awarded Steele Canyon its Four Star Rating, one of only three golf clubs in all of San Diego County to earn that distinction. The Canyon/Ranch pairing is the premium combo, playing to approximately 6,700 yards par-71 with Southern California chaparral framing every landing zone. Peak green fee runs $85-125 depending on season. Fits a San Diego trip as the 'inland Gary Player' round between the Fairmont Grand Del Mar and the coastal Torrey Pines-area cards.
Steele Canyon Golf Club's peak-season green fee is around $175 per round. Off-peak rates vary by season. Call the pro shop for current shoulder pricing. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full San Diego trip cost
