About

The Horse Course at The Prairie Club is a 10-hole par-3 short course designed by Gil Hanse (with Geoff Shackelford co-design credit on some tellings). Holes range from 485 to 1,125 yards total depending on tee choice, giving groups a game-within-a-game built around the "H-O-R-S-E" format golfers have been playing on putting greens for generations. The Horse Course rounds out The Prairie Club's offerings alongside the Dunes (Tom Lehman, #36 Top 100 Public) and Pines (Graham Marsh, #90 Top 100 Public). It's the best non-championship short course in the Great Plains and part of why Valentine, Nebraska has become a genuine destination for serious golfers.
