Red Lawrence designed Tubac Golf Resort in 1959 on the historic 1789 Otero Ranch, 500 acres of still-working ranchland 45 minutes south of Tucson in the Santa Cruz River valley. The routing flows around the river and across the original ranch footprint, with 27 holes (three nines: Rancho, Anza, and Otero), a 17th-century replica chapel on property, and cattle grazing visible from several fairways. Tubac achieved unexpected Hollywood fame when it served as the primary filming location for the 1995-1996 movie 'Tin Cup' starring Kevin Costner. The par-5 4th hole on the Rancho nine is where Costner's caddie character was goaded into going for the green from nearly 250 yards out, a scene now enshrined in mainstream golf-movie canon. Peak green fee runs $85-135. Fits a Tucson trip as the 'Tin Cup pilgrimage' card paired with a Tubac Resort stay, it's the rare Arizona resort course whose cultural footprint exceeds its design reputation.
Tubac Golf Resort's peak-season green fee is around $115 per round. Off-peak rates vary by season. Call the pro shop for current shoulder pricing. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full Tucson trip cost
